Sorry, I read this quite awhile ago now and don't remember for certain, but I think it is written largely in the 3rd person; most Nora Roberts novels are. This is one in a series of books that while you do not need to read the series to enjoy any single book, there is a continuous plot woven throughout the series. So each book contains a story from beginning to end following the typical Nora formula: boy meets girl, rough start, don't know why they rub each other so wrong, they each fight the attraction, but eventually cave and Bing! Bam! Boom! Happy ever after. In addition to that story, there is another story playing out in the background that has to do with a love story gone wrong in the past and a lost treasure. That story, as I said, is woven throughout the series, so it does help if you have read the series in order to follow that, but again it isn't necessary.I like Nora's formula and I almost always like her main characters. She writes characters you relate to, you feel like could be people you know and characters you yourself fall in love with. These are not "deep thinking" novels. These are fun and entertaining novels. So if you want a bit of entertaining and escapism, then I recommend this to you.

This was a fantastic series and this last book wrapped things up beyond my expectations. You do need to read the books in order since the characters cross over all through books in the series.
The oldest of the Calhoun sisters finds love and even a little romance with an old acquaintance. Nora Roberts adds mystery and suspense to love and romance and even throws in some ghostly spirits as she tells the tale of the fourth Calhoun sister's determination to solve the mystery of the missing emeralds. An easy and fun read, as usual, from Nora Roberts.
I am always ready to read a Nora Roberts book and this one kept me reading till the last page. Following the Calhouns story filled many rainy days with comfortable reading. I thought that the story had predictable plot, but there were some twists and turns that kept me reading, especially the letters written by the long deceased lovers. Tugged at a few heart strings along the way.
Love this series. Easy reading, HEA, suspense -- yes!
This book is the most gentle one in the series. My guess is, it was the most tricky to write since it involved children and their feelings. Loved it very much and will reread it.
Would give this and Meagqn's mate five stars if not for the glossed over abusive male, deadbeat dad issues.Would love to see a final book that transends traditional silence in priviliged circles. Publically humiliate Baxter, press piece by piece. Some forensic accounting ( Meagan) and fo course Aunt Colleen, could render justice in a variety of ways. Just a few ideas Maestra.-)
This is such a great book, that I look forward to going back and reading these stories again like some that I already have, and I am impatient to read the rest of Nora Roberts' stories right now. Hot, Hot, Hot, love scenes, a well written, creative and intriguing story about family plus inventive, vivid characters, all on top of seriously wonderful love and romance. Each story is about one key person, usual in a family, or close group of friends, they are linked through intricate, messy links and it's almost like a movie you get the privilege of witnessing about these people's powerful, emotional, and often times painful journey towards falling in love. Roberts is one of my most favorite author's, and she doesn't disappoint in this series. Her unique style and classy, yet moving love scenes, paint a beautiful picture that leaves a person longing for something similar for themselves. All of that is combined into this fantastic series and make this book a "must-have"!!!! I didn't want to set it down....seriously!! Lol I was nodding off over my book on several different occasions. Worth the price and more to have a Nora Roberts book in your library collection!!!!!!
